A New Way to Enjoy My Delicious Oil

My friend dropped a small box in my palm like she was handing over a secret. “You’ll like this one,” she said, with the kind of smirk that usually means trouble. Inside was the Linx Oasis — barely bigger than a tube of lip balm, smooth ceramic from tip to tank, with a quiet, understated confidence to it. I didn’t ask questions. I never do. I just assumed I knew exactly what to do with it.
So I packed the chamber with wax, like I always do, pressed the button, and inhaled.
It worked. Technically. But the vapor came out thin and apologetic, like it wasn’t fully committed to the bit. I tried another temperature setting. Same shy little puff. I sat there frowning at it, genuinely a little offended. My friend swore this thing was good. Was she messing with me?
“Maybe it’s just a slow burner,” she offered, unhelpfully, when I texted her about it.
I wasn’t convinced. So instead of writing the Oasis off as all hype, I did the thing I probably should have done before loading it up in the first place: I pulled up the LinxVapor website.
Turns out, I’d been feeding a fish person food. The Oasis isn’t a wax pen at all — it’s a refillable oil cartridge, engineered specifically for oil. Wax was never on the menu. I’d been asking a specialist to do a generalist’s job, and it had been doing its polite best the whole time.

I felt a little dumb. Mostly I felt relieved — this wasn’t a bad pen, I’d just been bad at reading the room.
I cleaned out the chamber, filled it with oil the way it was actually built to be used, and pressed the button again.
Night and day. The ceramic tank and heating element clearly knew what they were built for — the vapor came out full-bodied and smooth, none of that thin, half-hearted wisp from round one. And the flavor — actual flavor, rich and clean, nothing scorched or medicinal about it. The preheat function even softened up the oil first so it drew evenly from the first hit. I sank into the couch and just enjoyed it properly this time, no coughing, no second-guessing, no texting my friend in confusion.
Here’s the part that really got me: this refillable oil cartridge, this genuinely satisfying thing I was now mildly obsessed with, costs $24.99. I’d braced myself for a flimsy, one-note experience at that price. Instead I got something that felt like it belonged in a much pricier box.

Still poking around the LinxVapor site trying to recover from my own mistake, I noticed the Oasis has a sibling — the Linx Hermes, another refillable oil cartridge from the same lineup. I’m already plotting to get my hands on one, mostly out of curiosity about what else this brand’s been quietly getting right.

Moral of the story: read the label before you load the chamber. But also — sometimes your own mistake stumbles you into something better than what you were expecting. The Oasis did that for me. At $24.99, it’s a ridiculously easy refillable oil cartridge to recommend, even to someone who apparently can’t read labels.
